Ender's Game Red Carpet Interview: Sir Ben Kingsley (Video)

One of the highlights of the evening! Sir Ben Kingsley stopped to chat with us about the film, his tattoos, and possible sequels. ;)

Sorry about the wobbly vid -- the camera became understandably a little overwhelmed.

Full Video from MCM London Comic-Con "Ender's Game" Event

In case you guys missed it, you can now check out Monday's entire Q&A session on YouTube!

Huge thanks to Matt for the heads up! :)

Video Coverage from Last Night's London Events

The Ender's Game promotion tour led stars Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Harrison Ford, and Sir Ben Kingsley, director Gavin Hood, and producers Bob Orci and Gigi Pritzker to London this Monday, where they spent the entire day doing several Q&A panels at various locations in the city, and presenting new film footage at a big fan event on Leicester Square that evening.

The first stop was at Westminster Academy school where the group talked to students as part of a educational charity called Film Club. The BBC has nice video coverage of this event which you can watch at the site.

We also have a bunch of video interviews with the stars, taken at the MCM London Comic Con event at the Odeon Theatre last night. Videos are courtesy of HeyUGuys, and if you want to watch more than the Hailee Steinfeld video posted below, head over to their site to get the full six interviews.

We don't have much footage of the actual fan event, but there are a few shaky videos of the panel on YouTube (watch here and here) and you get the idea of what was going on.

They also showed three movie clips with partly never seen before footage, one of them being an extended version of Ender's Army, which we have debuted last weekend.

The only snippet we can show you at this point of the remaining new footage is this picture of Launchie Ender, found on Twitter.

Free "Ender's Game" Panel in London With Cast/Crew Guests!

Heads up, UK Launchies! Bleeding Cool is reporting that a week from today on October 7th, there will be an Ender's Game panel between 6:30pm and 8:00pm with cast and crew members -- and it's absolutely free to attend!

From the site:
The panel will take place in the West End of London – in one of the bigger cinemas in Leicester Square would be my guess – and a number of stars will be in attendance.

According to the press release the following guests will be there:
Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Gavin Hood, Bob Orci and Gigi Pritzker.
There will also be props from the film and "never before seen footage" shown.
Yikes!

To claim your ticket, keep an eye on the official website for London Comic-Con around 6 p.m. GMT tomorrow -- though Bleeding Cool suggests that you get there a bit early and hit refresh for a while; this is something that may "sell out" very quickly!

Good luck, Launchies.

5 Brand New "Ender's Game" Character Posters

Yesterday, Movie Newz updated their Ender's Game page with 5 never before seen character posters of Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford), Petra Arkanian (Hailee Steinfeld), Major Anderson (Viola Davis) and Mazer Rackham (Sir Ben Kinglsey).

Please note: The posters have been removed at the request of Summit Entertainment. We will post the final, official versions as soon as they are released.

I'm really loving the blue and amber tones they are using for a lot of the imagery, though I am wondering why they chose to include the names of the actors instead of the characters.

Edit: We've received confirmation from the studio that these images were drafts and the artwork wasn't meant to be released to the public. Too bad! However, if these are practice runs, we can't wait to see the final project -- Petra looks totally fierce and I would love to have these on my wall!

First Look: Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackham

Mazer Rackahm
Sir Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackham

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we got our first look today at Mazer Rackham, the war hero who is credited with single-handedly defeating the Buggers during the Second Formic Invasion. Look at those Maori tattoos!

From the article:
"Every gesture in the tattoo carries family history, family struggles – it's your past," the actor says. "I was so enthralled. He's in quite a contained, stylized uniform but then this wonderful face tells his warrior history."
Read the full report over at Entertainment Weekly.

Only 6 days until the very first Ender's Game teaser trailer debuts online -- how are you surviving until then?

Sir Ben Kingsley: "I think it is going to be a wonderful film."

Sir Ben Kingsley

While making promotional rounds for Iron Man 3, Sir Ben Kingsley (Mazer Rackham) spoke to Coventry Telegraph about his other upcoming projects, Ender's Game included:
Ender's Game is coming out later this year. How did that work out?

Lovely, but quite different from the challenge of the Mandarin. With Mandarin I was very rarely involved in green screen. In Gandhi we had none. We actually had 4,000 people on screen for the funeral.

In Ender's Game we had a lot of green screen. The kids in the film were obviously challenged by being told 'It is all going to be CGI-d later but you have to react' . Gavin (Hood) looked after them so well and they did form a wonderful relationship with him. So that he would, where possible, talk them through what they were seeing while they were reacting to it.

He really knocked himself out pumping energy into those kids who couldn't see anything. I think it is going to be a wonderful film.

Tell us about your role.

Mazar Rackham. He is a combination of historically ancient warrior in that he is descended from Maori and has Maori tattooed on his face. And at the same time he is teaching children how to operate drones. So he is very advanced and also rooted in an ancient warrior tradition.
We can't wait for the trailer to hit theaters with Star Trek Into Darkness so you can all see how cool Mazer Rackham's facial tattoos actually are! Not too long to wait now...

What will all you Launchies be doing to pass the time these next couple of weeks?
